At SnapCards, we believe in "Privacy by Design." Our app is built to help you learn without requiring personal accounts or usernames.
- Data We Do Not Collect
- No User Accounts: We do not require a name, email address, or username to use SnapCards.
- No Personal Identity: We do not collect or store any information that directly identifies you.
- Data We Process (AI Image Recognition)
To turn your pictures into flashcards, SnapCards uses the Anthropic API (Claude).
- What is Shared: When you take a photo or screenshot, the image is sent to Anthropic’s servers for text and diagram recognition.
- Usage: This data is used solely to generate your study material.
- Retention: Per our agreement with Anthropic for commercial API use, your data is not used to train their global AI models unless you explicitly opt-in. Images are typically deleted after processing or retained for a short period (30 days) to ensure service stability.
- Usage Statistics (Firebase Analytics)
We use Google Firebase to understand how the app is performing (e.g., which features are used most).
- Data Collected: Anonymous device identifiers, app version, and interaction events (e.g., "card created," "deck sorted").
- Purpose: To improve app stability and the Leitner algorithm’s effectiveness.
- Opt-Out: You can opt-out of analytics at any time through your device's system settings (Limit Ad Tracking).
- Third-Party Disclosure: Data is processed by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy & Terms.
- Camera & Photo Access
SnapCards requires access to your camera and photo library to function.
- Camera: Used only when you initiate a "Snap."
- Library: Used only if you choose to import a screenshot.
- Local Storage: Your flashcards and subject organization are stored locally on your device or in your private iCloud/Google Drive backup.
